Wholehearted

The Holy Spirit

We need the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God's presence amongst us, God's empowerment for mission, and God's way of helping us to experience life in our relationship with Him. All the blessings we have as Christians are Spirit given blessings (Ephesians 1:3). Join us as a church as we grow in our desperation for and discernment of the Holy Spirit of God.

In the second part of this series, based on 1 Cor 12-14, looks at the gifts of the Spirit, the context of the Spirit, the marks of the Spirit, healing, prophesy, speaking in tongues, and the priority of the Spirit - the gospel.

The Gospel

The gospel is the great news of a good God rescuing His broken world through the work of Jesus Christ. This magnificent story can be viewed from two perspectives. First, the background story zooms out on God's love for the entire cosmos. The big story of the Bible has four acts: Creation - Fall - Reconciliation - Restoration. Second, the foreground story zooms in on God's relationship with sinners. This is the focus on the Bible's story: God - Man - Christ - Faith. If we are to be changed by this good news and be equipped to share it, we need to know the gospel really well. Join us at Hope this term as we go deeper in the magnificent gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Passion of the King

We are on a journey at Hope in this series: to know Jesus and to learn what it means to be His disciples. Luke writes his biography of Jesus carefully in order to deepen our faith. Jesus’ claims are incredible. Jesus’ teaching and miracles are amazing. And this journey with Jesus will take us apart and put our lives back together so we will never be the same again.

In the lead up to Christmas we busy ourselves with end of year functions, end of school productions, holiday planning, Christmas day plans and  presents. For a brief moment that will get you thinking throughout the week, here at HCC we take a look at Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. The real priority at Christmas.

 Truth That Changes Lives

Why do Christians make such a big deal about “the book”? The Bible is the most translated, the most sold, even the most shop-lifted book in the world! We believe that the Spirit of God uses the Word of God to transform our lives, not merely to fill us with information. We value the plain-spoken, culturally appropriate explanation of God’s desire for our lives. Download this series on the doctrine of Scripture, as we grow to be “people of the book”.

Discipleship

Luke 9:1-11:13. In this mini-series in Luke's Gospel, we examine Jesus' teaching on discipleship, as He and His followers begin their journey to the cross. What does Jesus expect of us as His disciples? How can we help others to grow as disciples of Jesus? The church should be full of disciple-making disciples of the Lord Jesus. Download for your journey to begins right here as we go verse-by-verse through the stories of Luke 9-11.

Love Struck

God loves us. Nothing is more simple, or more profoundly deep. But what does it mean to be loved by God?  In the Bible, God’s love is neither sentimental nor gushy, but rather is strong and active. To be overwhelmed by God’s love is to be changed forever. Those who deeply sense God’s love find freedom to respond with love to others and to live with risky faith.

Download to gaining a deeper understanding and more powerful experience of the love of God than we have ever had before.

Luke

Join us as we journey through Luke: to know Jesus and to learn what it means to be His disciples. Luke writes his biography of Jesus carefully in order to deepen our faith. Jesus’ claims are incredible. Jesus’ teaching and miracles are amazing. And this journey with Jesus will take us apart and put our lives back together so we will never be the same again.

NZ Idol

During the Rugby World Cup 2011,  HCC decided it was the perfect season for some heavy hitting spiritual growth. Why do we get so angry and bitter about little things? What drives us to sacrifice the most important things in our lives like family and relationships? What addicts us to things like porn, gossip and even good things like financial prosperity? The Bible's answer for this is simple: idols. Idols are so much more than little statues or a sports trophy. Idols enslave us. They deceive us and steal our joy. That's why the Bible repeatedly warns us against them (Exodus 20:1-6; Romans 1:18-23; 1 John 5:24). Download these sermons and join us as we expose the idols in our lives, the lies they tell us, and how the power of the gospel sets us free to enjoy and and serve the one true God.

God Sized Questions

God sized questions are the common sense objections that folk hold towards the Christian faith. These tough issues block faith. They create doubt. Most of all, they sometimes keep people from the transforming message of the gospel. Download to wrestle with these questions, and make these objections smaller, and the gospel of Jesus larger and more compelling than ever before.

1 Peter a call to stand

Calling all who struggle to live for Jesus Christ!  Peter wrote his first letter to encourage fellow strugglers to stand fast under trials and to stand fast in the grace of God (1 Peter 5:12). Do you know how to do both of these things? Download these sermons to equip yourself by studying the great book of First Peter.
